Our little Junebug isn't quite so small anymore. The first three months of her life seemed to pass at a fairly normal speed, but then the 5 months that followed really flew by. Perhaps it has something to do with the 'working mother' thing, but I can't be sure.
Emmy turned 8 months today. Unreal. She has more life, energy, and personality than ever. Each day, her father and I get to know her better, and I think she also gets to know herself better as she grows into the person she's becoming.
If this month had a theme, it would be determination. It's becoming evident just how hard-headed she is -- I wonder where she gets that? If she wants something, she pushes until it's hers. Tonight was the perfect example. She's been trying her best for the past 2 weeks to mobilize herself through crawling. When I picked her up from school and she saw me, she began fussing as usual. But instead of giving up, she used her strength to push up to her hands, lunge forward on all fours, and awkwardly crawl my way. She did the same thing just before bed when her new ball rolled away from her -- she just had to have it -- and so, she had it.
We're so excited to see the person she becomes, but we'll make sure and cherish every moment in the present. Babies are truly amazing creatures, and our Junebug is no exception.
This isn't the best video clip of her crawling, but it will have to do...
